WOOOOOO WHOOOO!!!!!!

SO many reasons to celebrate today - where to begin!?

1. BARACK OBAMA IS OUR PRESIDENT! Hippity horray! I missed this, but did you hear that the entire crowd started singing “nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, gooood byeeee…” when our former President, George Bush, stepped into his helicopter to be shipped back to Texas (where he belongs..now for the love of God, keep him there)? So awesome.

2. The snow stopped. And do you know how freakin’ incredible New York City is? Well, let me tell you - they had the entire West Side Highway shoveled and sanded so nutzo people like me could still run in this ghastly weather. It was amazing. And I’m talking the whole thing, the entire sidewalk, not just a little path. Maybe I am just easily impressed, but I couldn’t believe it.

3. My new shoes are finally broken in.

4. Paula Radcliffe told me I posted my best run to date tonight! Ok, actually that was my (totally awesome) nike+ running thingy that told me that…but it’s true, tonight was my longest run since my last half marathon in September. 10 miles!!! It felt SO good. I was a little nervous because it’s pretty cold outside, low 20s, but the wind was light and for some reason I just felt right.

5. I feel ready for the Manahattan half marathon on Saturday. Wish me luck! I’m running it with several of my fellow DFMC NY runners. Our first official bonding experience that actually involves running and not food. What a concept. ;)

Wow, and there’s still 90 minutes left of today. What other amazing stuff could I possibly cram into this day? I think a hot shower and some tea…the life.
